FINAL DAY

It is the final day of the three days training on investigative internet training. The training has to a large extend reached my expectation, I have gained a lot on how to explore more with search words links and follow on different background.
The third day training has been fully on writing a story assignment on Gas in Mtwara. It has been long and extensive, i have learned to plan my story and come up with search words. Although it was not easy, i have managed to make time plan in order to formulate a story.
The whole training had full of interesting assignment and how to handle them. From day one we listed our objective and try to achieve them in the training. We learn and defined investigative on internet, how to use Google to search for facts and figures, i also added into my list a list of internet resources on investigative journalism.
Interestingly we learnt to create blogs and do the posting.
I believe this training will help many of us to increase our internet skills on investigative on internet.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK MISATAN FOR THE INNITIATIVE.

ALSO THIS TRAINING WOULD NOT HAVE ACHIEVED ITS OBJECTIVE WITHOUT MR. PEIK JOHANSSON'S DEDICATION AND TOLERANCE.
THANK YOU PEIK

THANKS TO CECILIA MNG'ONG'O FOR BEING HERE FOR THE PAST THREE DAYS TO WITNESS AND MAKE SURE WE ARE ALL GOOD STUDENTS

FINALLY MANY THANKS ALL CLASS MEMBERS WHO IN THE END WE HAVE BECOME FRIENDS. IT WAS NOT EASY ON DAY ONE WHEN WE ALL HAD SOME SERIOUS FACES, IN THE END WE ARE ALL HAPPY AND SMILLING AS ONE TEAM :-)

UNDERSTANDING GAS SECTOR IN TANZANIA

Foreign countries are have entered the sector of oil and gas in Tanzania due to the discovery of the gas particularly in Mtwara region.

Oil and gas

To understand the industry one has to understand the meaning of oil and gas, there are several definition both complicated and simple, but in short they all imply that oil and gas are fossilfuels which are deposits buried from the dead organisms for many millions of years sometimes exceeding 650Milion years.

These deposits have high percentage of carbon which includes coal, petroleum and natural gas.
Tanzania has been blessed with wide reserves of natural gas. Natural gas is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas (chemical combination of hydrogen and carbon gas) with a mixture of methane.

With natural gas there are a lot of benefit a country can rip while at the same time there are a lot of challenges involved.

SECOND DAY IN THE TRAINING

We had tips on journalistic research on internet, where we explored about 11 tips on how to succeed on internet investigative stories.
We also had several exercises on how to search for more stories on the internet while taking into account yesterday and today’s lessons. Some of these stories were :-
Chipolopolo’s game match with Brazil
The accusation of Uhuru Kenyatta over ICC
About Smart Kigali
After the searching exercise we had to pick one of the above topics and write a story for posting into the created blogs.
The facilitator pointed out some of the investigative stories which are famous and commonly in use.
These are: wikileak.org., fairereport.org and crionline.org
And finally we had a discussion on the upcoming assignment and how to tackle them.
The research assignement i did and planning
I did assignment on Zambia Fans wishes well Chipolopolo
I pick the reaction about Zambians about their team playing 5 times winner of world cup in Beijin.
For i to do that i had to plan how to use my time mainly on researching, writing and finally delivering.

Capturing the moments

Imma Mbuguni
My father taught me one important thing in life, ‘moments’, it is moments that gives you the best experiences in life. Each one of us has moments in life that they would like to remember, and when they do remember these moments’ lifts up emotions in different ways.

My name is Imma Mbuguni, I’m not writing a story rather use the above explanation to capture your attention. I work for Majira, dally Swahili national circulating paper in Tanzania.  My job involves editing stories and deciding which story is to be used on the paper.
Again the reason why I started with a story is because as a journalist I have a great interest with photography, apart from investigative photo journalism I find a great joy once I preserve moments.

I believe we should all do what makes us happy, or at least enjoy what we are doing.

I am currently at the Tanzania Global Learning Agencies, attending training on investigative internet journalism and one of the first tasks is to open a blog, where I chose to open Kivuli blog.

My expectation on this training is to strengthen my internet skills on internet investigative journalism in background gathering.

I hope you will enjoy this blog and make it your most preferred page J

Thank you and enjoy it
